Joe is Joseph at The Liverpool Empire Theatre and Beyond from October

Joe McElderry, Joseph, Tim Rice, Andrew Lloyd Webber

It’s just over a week to go until 2009s X-Factor winner Joe McElderry shows off his Coat of Many Colours once more at The Liverpool Empire, in the latest production of Sir Tim Rice and Lord Andrew Lloyd-Webber’s Joseph and His Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.

Joe plays Joseph at The Liverpool Empire from October 3 – October 7, then moves on to Richmond, Manchester and Stoke-on-Trent. His appearances on the touring route have already received huge acclaim from audiences and critics alike, with the show itself proving to be ever more popular.

If you didn’t learn to sing-a-long along to the strains of Any Dream Will Do as child, you can probably retrospectively sue your parents for neglect, which is not to imply that the show is in any way dated. With a narrative encompassing sibling rivalry and a journey from rags to riches, Rice and Lloyd Webber have cleverly composed an age-defying score which spans genres from Calypso to Country via the lyricism Noel Coward and the swagger of a young Elvis.

Retelling the Biblical story of Joseph, his eleven brothers and the coat of many colours, this magical musical is full of unforgettable songs including Those Canaan Days, Any Dream Will Do and Close Every Door to Me.

Joe was just 18 when he won the sixth series of The X Factor in 2009 and immediately went straight to number one on the UK Singles Charts with his debut single The Climb. He has since gone on to have three top ten albums, as well as notching up two more reality TV show victories, winning ITV’s Pop Star to Opera Star and Channel 4’s The Jump.

Joseph is one of those rare things: a show that gives the audience the opportunity to truly let their collective hair down and genuinely enjoy a colourful, magical evening out either with or without the kids!

Joseph is at The Liverpool Empire Theatre: October 3 – October 7, then touring.
