It’s Liverpool, 1997 and our comedic anti-hero is found gigging in a bingo hall. Venturing ‘backstage’ to crisp boxes, crappy sofas and memorabilia from a bygone age, Jigsy drinks his pint of ‘mild’ and regales us with tales, his tired-looking dinner suit, ruddy cheeks and impromptu coughing fits, hinting at a man past his prime not just professionally but physically. Jigsy is a jobbing comic. Over the last thirty years he’s worked with them all – and he’ll tell you the stories to prove it.

Les Dennis transforms himself completely into the eponymous Jigsy, in this funny, touching, nostalgic show. A firm favourite during its sell-out run at The Liverpool Royal Court Theatre in 2012, could there be a better time to pour a glass of something, kick back and enjoy one of the finest performances to ever be delivered on this famous city centre stage?
