It’s always nice to hear fresh music coming through from seed to fruit, so to speak.

So it is with Wirral-based Liatris who have released their debut single, The Waves,  across all media platforms.

Artists Amelia and Devon are both Wirral Grammar School for Girls alumni, with both writing, recording, mixing, producing and contributing to this wildly ‘summer’-vibed offering.

Amelia’s Lead guitar really strikes a note, in a steady up-beat, Dixie-chicks kind of way, while Devon’s bass, keys, particularly with the introductory catch phrasing that’s sure to have feet tapping and arms pumping immediately, setting the tone.

Prominent too is Devon’s skill behind the drum kit. Steady, rhythmic and unignorable, the rhythm lends a tectonic beat in an absorbing way.

The vocals are quirky, with a ‘Tori Amos’ incantation that stands out, but not so much as to be any way deemed an imitation.

Funky, bright and breezy, The Waves is certainly a strong start and bodes well for two teenagers embarking on their musical journey.
